Gerald “Jay” N. Kalala is an entrepreneur, investor, author, software developer, and business educator working between Europe and Africa. He belongs to a generation of the African diaspora that understands both the opportunities of international markets and the practical realities of building businesses on the African continent. His experience allows him to connect European standards of organisation, technology, and business development with the economic conditions, consumer behaviour, infrastructure, and operational challenges found in African markets. Jay began working in the digital world as a teenager, first developing skills in graphic design, media production, branding, and web development. He later expanded into online marketing, software development, business process digitalisation, financial education, and company creation. Rather than remaining a consultant who only advises businesses from the outside, he became directly involved in creating, operating, and developing companies and digital products. He is the founder and CEO of Narikia, a technology and operations company established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is also a co-founder and deputy director of Champion’s Academy DRC and a co-founder of Nkokal SARL. Through these ventures and his technology projects, he has worked across software, mobility, fitness, real estate, digital services, education, marketing, and business operations. His technology work includes the development of websites, mobile applications, SaaS platforms, ERP systems, administrative dashboards, customer-management tools, and offline-first solutions designed for markets where internet access, digital payments, and business infrastructure may be inconsistent. His central philosophy is that technology must solve real operational problems rather than merely appear innovative. As an entrepreneur and educator, Jay focuses on the complete journey from idea to functioning business: identifying a real market problem, developing an offer, finding the first paying customers, building a brand, using social media advertising, organising operations, managing money, creating digital systems, and transforming active income into long-term assets.
